This year the Eastern Region headed off to support the MX5
racing “MaX5” championship at Snetterton Circuit on Saturday 5
August and then again for an even “bigger do” on Saturday 19
August at Brands Hatch.
At Snetterton a good turn
out of members 5’s parked up in the paddock with the MaX5 teams
and in round 7 of the championship Jonathan came in first to
help in his bid for the 2006 title.
The Eastern region trip to
Brands Hatch was destined to be something a little bit more
exciting. As well as top racing from the MaX5 cars, among
others, the main event for us was an exclusive parade lap of the
circuit itself. We had also invited all the local clubs to take
part and in the lunch time break between races 40 plus MX-5s
took to the circuit for two laps of the track. It was quite an
experience and whilst only at sensible speeds in convoy behind a
pace car it still gave us a great feel for the track which
appeared neither flat nor straight at any point.
A huge thanks to John from
MaX5 for arranging the laps and thanks to everyone who took part
as we were able to donate the £200 raised to the Marshall’s
fund. A parade lap for next year is already agreed, watch out
for it, I can highly recommend it.
