The 4th Lulworth Rally, Lulworth Castle, Dorset
The 4th Lulworth National Rally was
held over the weekend of Friday 9 July Sunday 11 July 2004 in
the setting of Lulworth Castle, Dorset and was part of the
clubs 10th anniversary celebrations.
The Eastern Region was well
represented at the Rally with members attending the events from
the Friday night spit roast and ceilidh, through to the main
rally day on the Sunday.
For a weekend in July the
weather was less than favourable and the run down on the
Saturday morning for a number of members involved several hood
stops with the opportunity to practice getting the roof up
without getting out or even stopping the car ! Fortunately
there were no hood stops required on the M25.
Local drives through the
scenic Dorset countryside were available on the Saturday as well
as an autotest in the castle grounds. They main rally day on
Sunday started off very overcast, having rained over night, but
despite the threatening looking rain clouds that seemed to pass
by the rally site all day, not a drop fell. Many of the usual
rally events took place with a couple of Eastern members
entering their cars in the Best Kept Five competition. And the
Region came away with silverware when Jon Selwood was awarded a
trophy for his frighteningly shiny racing green Mark 2. I think
the newly installed turbo and spotless engine compartment also
helped.

A total of over 400 club members and their cars attended the
event and as you will see from the photos colour coordinated car
parking was the order off the day.
