Back in 2003 Daz
organised a run around some of his favourite bits of
Cambridgeshire. Unfortunately on the day it rained, and rained
and then it rained some more!
So, in April 2004 Daz tried
again as lightening should never strike twice in the same place
and no way could it rain all day again. How wrong he was.
Nine cars
met up in the Tescos car park at Bar Hill in slightly moist
weather, and hopes were high for some sunshine later in the
day. However it was not to be, the slightly moist day turned
into a full on, supercharged, wet day.
The
morning section of the route saw us heading out North and West
through Earith and Alconbury around the area to the North of
Huntingdon. A nice Sunday Lunch was eaten at the Fox Pub in
Catworth which anyone who has driven up the A14 past Huntingdon
will recognise as the pub by the side of the road with FOX
FOOD in big letters on the roof. After lunch the route
continued (and so did the rain) heading South and finally back
East towards Cambridge. A couple of brave members decided that
they had to get in some hood down time and braved the rain, much
to the amazement of several bystanders as we passed.
The run
ended at the Cambridge Services on the A14, another fun if
slightly damp day out.
A
highlight of the day was the attendance of Mac for the morning
run and lunch (aka Loft Ladder Man, at that time a bit of a
celebrity on the OC Forum) in one of his first and last Eastern
Region events before he moved back up to Scotland.
A big
thanks to Daz for organising the day. We plan a rerun in 2005
and this time we have been promised a sunny day.

Bar Hill - not raining yet!

Bar Hill - only slightly damp!

One of the slower road users ahead!

A very rare hood up convoy!

So which way is it then?

Many thanks to the
contributors of the above photographs.
